**North Gorge Walk — Queensland's best land-based whale watching.**

At the island's most easterly point, the North Gorge headland walk offers some
of the most dramatic coastal scenery in South East Queensland. Crystal-clear
water crashes against ancient rock formations, while turtles, dolphins, and
rays cruise the channel below. From late May through November, this is
Queensland's premier land-based whale watching location — humpback whales pass
so close to shore that no boat is needed. It is wildlife viewing at its most
raw and non-invasive.

Minjerribah is a protected natural environment. The kangaroos that graze
roadside are wild. The koalas in the eucalypts are wild. The dolphins in the
bay are wild. We never feed, touch, or disturb animals — we simply know where

The vehicle ferry crossing of Moreton Bay is itself a highlight — 45 minutes on
the water with views back to the mainland and the chance to spot dolphins
riding the bow wake before you even reach the island.



**A note on whale season:**

Humpback whales migrate past Minjerribah from late May through November.
Outside this window, North Gorge remains one of the most spectacular coastal
walks in Queensland — and turtles, dolphins, and rays are present
year-round.
